I have all the musical talent of a paraplegic locust but my dad was/is a mean bass player.
His band Arrival toured on 71 with Thin Lizzy at their support band. Dad taught Phil to play guitar. Lots of session stuff with some major names (Free, Bob Marley, etc) and he still plays, aged 62. He made a rather lovely bass from flamed maple; took almost a year to make.
Also know Seth Lakeman well.
I've cooked (used to chef at a pub) for Suggs and Andrew Ridgely many times.
I've spoken at length to Eric Clapton (Dad knows his Mum) and ahem, David Essex.
And that is about it.

Had a bucket of water thrown over me by Ozzy.
High fived by Sebastian Bach (Skid Row) and it nearly broke my hand. (I did notice that the rest of the band seemed to be smoking some lovely herbal roll ups.)
Oh, and met an old Sex Pistol. Got very drunk at a gig in Aylesbury. Saw Glen Matlock speaking to a group of people. Drunkenly barged through them and slapped him on the shoulder whilst exclaiming (Huggy Bear style) "Glen, my man!". He said nothing but his look at me told me i was a w**ker. He was so right.

My mate's uncle was Huw Lloyd Langton, the founding guitarist out of Hawkwind. Recently RIP. My mate said it was the first funeral he'd attended with a guest list.
Played pool with him at mate's wedding years ago when he was roaring drunk. Following day he was a shambling mess - my mate's brother said 'Uncle Huw, I think my guitar needs tuning'. He picked this electric guitar up and played a string melting solo for about three minutes, grunted 'it's fine' and wandered off.

Needed a rework! Having been in the music biz for 33 years (God I'm old!), I've met and worked with lots... Rather than sound like a smartarse name dropper, I thought this might be of interest: Most annoying: Nina Simone (she once stormed out of Ronnie Scotts and left us to play for 5 hours!). Most fun: Lenny Henry. Most Bizarre: Charles Aznavour (I was crying with laughter at one stage - luckily he sings with his eyes closed). Most cash & least impressive: Red Box. Most Embarrassing: A Song For Europe (came 4th). Most Sad: Kirsty MacColl. Most Laughs: Raw Sex. (I shared a flat with Roland Rivron and played bass for Simon Brint for the best part of a decade - sadly, died last year). Most crap driver: Annie Lennox (who managed to hit 3 cars whilst parking in Battery Studio car park). Most amusing: Being in the big room at Abbey Rd when Pink Floyd were in the small room. Most surreal: Finding the ONLY master tape of a Level 42 session which had been left in a DAT recorder from the night before. Most Cool: Gerard Presencer (who kept a cab waiting outside whilst he did a session with me, that took him to Heathrow as he was playing in New York with Chick Corea later that day). Git. Most impressive: Neal Wilkinson (Van Morrison's drummer), who I asked to play in 4:4 with his right hand and 5:4 with his left and he did it perfectly first take.
I now work almost entirely with classical or Jazz musicians who are unbelievably good at what they do. On my last album my principal violinist was Alex Balanescu (which might not ring any bells) but FYI: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_B%C4%83l%C4... - amazing player.

My cousin is a professional bass player - currently working for/with Gabrielle Aplin.
A bloke I was at school with is now a producer.

Your post intrigued me so I took a peek at your website. I think I can safely say that your car and career history is rather impressive. I went ever so slightly green...I now work almost entirely with classical or Jazz musicians who are unbelievably good at what they do. I could cheat here, as I drive wagons on tours but won't bore you with who I've worked/drank with.
My dad god rest him, drove a cab for 30 years in basildon, and used to run Depeche Mode about before they made it big!

The best in my eyes would be that an MD I had before starting uni was Andy Leask, who's probably the best living Moeller teacher in the world and last summer whilst recording with a band in Vegas ended up on a support slot for Fear factory who are actually really nice chaps.
One to add as I've just seen the newest Heineken advert and the drummer from Reef is the main character who happened to be one of my drum tutors in my first year at uni.
One last thing, Get Carter the 2012 album sample on your website sounds like it could have been in Hans Zimmer's score for Black Hawk Down! Great Stuff!

When I was a teenager I thought I wanted to work in a recording studio so I spent a few months working as a gofer for a friend of my guitar teacher at a studio in Wapping.
My first few weeks were spent with a band called Transglobal Underground (coincidentally I'd become a fan of theirs just prior to meeting them) and after that I spent a few weekend sessions with Toyah Wilcox and her band - what a thoroughly nice lady!
It was a fantastic experience, but I couldn't afford to keep doing it. Still, at least insurance has turned out well

Have played a few function gigs for some notable industry personalities, but these are probably too tenuous to list!
Last month a band I now play for supported Rizzle Kicks in Brighton. Got the call for the gig with a days notice, and had a whole set of guide tracks/multi-tracked parts to record and program before we got started with rehearsals! I had also never heard any of the groups songs before that day. Up there with some of the biggest gigs I've played and by far the least prepared. Great fun though!

When i was an apprentice electrician, another apprentice was a drummer in a band + he came in one thursday morning (20yrs ago now) knackered from a gig on the weds night in a wee town called Dundrum (where Patrick Kielty is from) which is about 50 miles from Belfast. He was saying about this support group they had the night before and how they got totally upstaged by them even though they were only 14/15yrs old + it was their 1st ever gig. They were called Ash and have sold a few million records since then + done rather well for themselves. My mates band, Strange Museum, havent......................
I played a bit of semi-pro football here in N Ireland a few years back + Fyfe Ewing + Michael McKeegan from Therapy? were regulars at the teams games
