Pretty simple really:
If you were allowed to say add one song to a library or on a desert island with you which one, which recording and why.

Despite being a bit of a rocker at heart and loving some soul electro and lots of stuff, mine is
"Wichita Lineman" by Glen Campbell - simply superb and just succeeds so well on so many levels

Difficult one but I think I'd go for Northern Skies by Nick Drake.

Harder than you think isn't it,and it's sometimes hard to be honest with yourself, amusingly though after I decided it was Wichita I had an I tunes update blah blah but I then noticed that in the times played Wichita was way ahead of anything else.

I have never, even after all these years, thirty five I think, not enjoyed listening to Because The Night by The Patti Smith Group. Fantastic in every way imo.

Haunting - still gives me goosebumps. First saw him on one of Jools Hollands show's many moons ago. Never quite made it mainstream.

The Who - Won't get fooled again.

OP, I really, really, hate your choice. That is the song anyone wishing to drive me insane would play on a loop into my cell!!

Easy Peasy (well for me). The 9 minute version of Jesus of Surburbia - Green Day.

It will be my on of my funeral songs. Would post a link but the language may not go down too well on the 11min you tube video.

Talking Heads - (Naive Melody) This Must Be The Place

Could have been any one of a dozen Talking Heads or Kraftwerk tracks to be honest but I just love the simplicity of this song, and the lyrics. Could listen to it on repeat for hours.

Excellent choice.

Mine would be "You Only Live Twice" from the film of the same name.

Point of order. Wichita Lineman is a Jimmy Webb song. Glen Campbell made it famous, but it's not his song.

I took him to mean the Glen Campbell version, rather than that he wrote it.

Indeed.

Check this out for a storming performance. People forget the Glenn Campbell was a very successful session musician before becoming a star in his own right.

Yes I said which recording and why Glen Campbell's version is easily IMHO the best and adds so much to the song
