Anyone else going this year? I just booked Prom 1, can't wait - I've never heard Vaughan Williams played love before.

Prom 1: First Night of the Proms
7.30pm, Royal Albert Hall
Julian Anderson - Harmony (c4 mins)
Britten - Four Sea Interludes from 'Peter Grimes' (17 mins)
Rachmaninov - Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini (23 mins)
Lutosławski - Variations on a Theme by Paganini (8 mins)
Vaughan Williams - A Sea Symphony (66 mins)

I try and go to a least one - I'm far from a classical buff, and while the Albert Hall is in some ways not ideal as a venue the atmosphere has always been great.

On previous years I have taken self declared classical haters and Hifi buffs: one you hear music played to you on a large scale you'll understand the classical thing!

Oh yes

An eighty piece orchestra in full flow is aural majesty.
