Yes, it's the same on Amazon... and everywhere else, I guess, meaning I can't buy somewhere else. I suspect it's actually set by the record labels rather than the studios. I realise you like to pretend that every artist 'back in the day' was a musical genius. I'd always buy an album even if I only knew/wanted one track, bound to hear other tracks on it that I like and expand my knowledge of that artist.
If someone could only make 1 good track on an album of filler then they'd be unlikely to ever prick my interest in the first place.
I have my own stuff on iTunes & Amazon, you select which track(s) you'll sell separately and which are album only, nothing to do with them.

I take this point on board totally - I agree with it, however, I'd better 'fess-up. I wanted two of the songs from this year's Eurovision. The only way (as far as I can tell) of getting them, is by buying the album of all the entries. I don't want the rest and I can't find the artists' own releases of the two tracks I want, so it's a case of buy the whole lot or nothing.

I wish we would go back, to be honest. The art of creating a complete body of work seems to be utterly gone in the era of poor-quality mp3s, 'genius' mixes and iPod shuffles. I'd be surprised with that, aren't the other 'artists' on EV quite popular in their home countries with the songs being released as singles before the event?Which tracks are you after?
