Dubstep. The harmonic electronic rifts and chopped up female vocals will gain her attention just long enough for the drop, which is sure to convert her to noisy music ... Job done! smile

At the moment, ste like the Osmonds or stuff out of the charts. So far I have taken her to see Alabama3, Ian Hunter and she'll be coming along to see the reformed Mott the Hoople in November. biggrin

Nothing wrong with the Osmonds. They were skilled vocallists.

I like Mott and Hoople AND The Osmonds. Take me smile

My first wife wasn't much into music either. We saw Simply Red at GMex in Manchester in the 80s. I left her in charge of getting tickets to see Radiohead for the OK Computer tour at the MEN Arena (not a great venue). She was instructed to get standing tickets, we ended up sitting 3,000 miles away in some dodgy seat.

I managed to get down to the standing area with her, and she complained it was "too loud" and "the bass notes hurt her stomach".

We didn't see anyone else and when we divorced, I let her have her three CDs out of the household collection!

Bless err cotton socks aberbernd all that guff,

Her Ladyship has absolutely no knowledge when it comes to music. Having taken said Lady to several concerts involving loud music. How should proceed? Ian Hunter is too loud but we're off to see Mott The Hoople in November woohoo

How would you introduce an audio virgin to the world of noisy stuff?

Beer has been consumed so feel free to take the piss
From the sounds of it i'd be happy youve got someone at your age.

I normally ask the wife and son who is coming with me to see band X. The wife normally responds with "well you are not going without me." Bands she seen now include, Prodigy, Iron Maiden, Metallica and Deep Purple. The funny thing is she has no idea of any of the songs these bands have made. Not bad for a lady who grew up on Hindi film songs!

Introduce her gently to the legends. Start with Steps, move on to Kylie then, when her ears have got used to the acoustic width, introduce wider notes. You need to stretch her more. European stuff and Aussies are fine for a novice, but save the soul and blues till she's fully able to appreciate their depth and drive. Later, introduce a bit of Chuck Berry, Mabeline is excellent, but not school days - too risky these days. When She's fully accomodated, end with My Ding-a-ling.

Gentle is the only way.

He said noisy stuff, a night of chewing her face off infront of a speaker the size of a car will have her seeking out loud music at every opportunity.

Probably because she will be half deaf hehe

I nearly persuaded her to go to Glastonbury but the bogs scared her off rofl 30 years on from the first time I went. I was thinking, with that many bands playing she'd be sure to find something she likes. I'm going to suggest Pop Will Eat Itself for a festive foray into intergalactic punk rock hip as thy call it! biggrin should go down wellthumbup

Mrs Muppet genuinely loves rap.

If she can put up with a bit of my stuff I can put up with a bit of her stuff. The last two gigs we went to were Feeder and Goldie Looking Chain.

Fortunately I couldn't make the gig she went to where someone got shot.

Until this thread I hadn't considered brainwashing her.

She likes popular music in the charts? I expect she enjoys many other things the the majority of people also like. What a weirdo.

I like music in the same way I like paint on walls, it's nice (essential often) in the background but I wouldn't go out of my way at all to go and look at some! Some people just aren't that into it...
