What’s your favourite studio album? By studio album, I mean not a greatest hits compilation. I can think of only four, on which I genuinely like every track. Here are my top 4 in no particular order.
Paul Simon: Graceland – I can remember my parents playing this lots when it came out and now have my own copy!
REM: Automatic for People – I used to like this band but they went on for too long IMHO. This was there high point though IMO.
Oasis: What’s the story, morning glory? – very of its time. Again, Oasis went downhill after this album.
Green Day: American Idiot – just remember listening to this all the time for a while on the pub jukebox. Good album.
Foo Fighters probably one of my favourite bands but only like a few tracks on each album.

So, what are your favourite studio albums?
Albums with no weak tracks? Hmm, since the demise of vinyl and the loss of the forty five minute discipline, I find many contemporary releases to be too long and with too many "filler" tracks that would not have made the final cut in the seventies and eighties, hence:-

IMO you never get fed up of listening to truely great albums, and all modern albums are waaaaaay tooooo long though - BUT if they had only 40 mins or so of music then these modern albums would qualify again IMO:-

I still love getting lost in this strange and magical album. How to Disappear Completely remains heart breaking.
Wilco - Hotel Yankee Foxtrot
Great songs underpinned by creative arrangements. Particular credit has to go to Glen Kotche for his extraordinary drum and percussion parts including the use of floor titles!
Idlewild - The Remote Part
The tipping point in their carear where pop songs and melodies balanced with punk energy.
Calexico - Feast of Wire
Another tipping point album for the band. This time it's where Calexico's spagetti western, Ennio Moriccone soundscapes balanced with the more song based approach of the albums that would follow.
Neko Case - Fox Confessor Brings the Flood
Strange dark tales sung by an extraordinary voice that is perfect for the task.
Battles - Mirrored
Like very little else. Elves on helium backed by wonky rhythms and dirty synths.
