I bought the CD on Ebay for 99p because I needed the cover image for something. Put the CD on as an afterthought because I had never heard it. But it's really good - sound quality is amazing for a 1970 recording and the band themselves were blinding. I have always heard it's supposed to be one of the best live albums and now I see why.
By the way as an observation to the gearheads on here - Pete Townsend is playing an SG straight into a HiWatt stack and it sounds great. A decent player doesn't need all the other pedals and clobber. Pretty sure Angus Young uses little more than an SG into a Marshall stack as well.

I must say I'm inclined to agree.L.F.
I can understand the fascination with different pickups and pedals etc, but it's the notes they play that really matter.

Many years ago I was waiting in a hospital room for wifey to come back from theatre, and on the radio was a documentary about this concert. A whole hour IIRC talking to bods who were fortunate enough to have been there, and in a state to recall...

tis a belting album. Love the utter power of Young Man Blues which is a very strong song anyway, but the way they play it on this album is astonishing.
then the shaking/my generation / magic bus mega mix is mental.
re hardware. Pete worked very closely with the amp manufactures to build extra loud kit. The HiWatts won't have been off the shelf stuff ...
