Urgent help - modern songs for beginner group

Hi all

I've been asked to help with a little project at my son's primary school.
My son is in Year 4 at primary schools and he's been asked to join a band as part of a series of weekly "Broadening Horizons" sessions.

The group is meant to be led by the Y6 kids (10/11 year olds) but they seem to be struggling to come up with songs to play that are simple enough for my son to play on guitar.

I've been asked to go in tomorrow afternoon (I'm ex-pro musician/teacher)and "facilitate without taking over" but also asked to come in with a few chord and lyric sheets for possible songs...

We're looking for 2 or 3 chord songs without rapid changes. Ideally it will be more recent that the '60s which is where I'm stuck at musically.

Any ideas? Need to get things printed out tomorrow morning at the latest..

I use it for Bass tabs, but plenty of chord stuff too.

"Wake me up" by Avicii is pretty straightforward - it's just Bmin, G, D (and a short burst of A) over and over and over and over.....

"Dance with me" by Olli Murs is just D, Bmin, G, A apart from a small middle 8 section that is G and Bmin...

"Marry you" by Bruno Mars is Bflat, F, Gmin over and over (easer if it's transposed down a semi-tone if barre chords are a prob).

You might want to check out the lyric sheet to make sure there are no "difficult to explain" lyrics!

Failing that, Smoke on the water.
