Thanks for the replies. The Garden Tapes does indeed explain all. It seems the menus on on both discs contain previously unreleased live clips.
The bit I was referring to seems to be a clip from their second night at Madison Square Garden which does not appear in the film or on the album. It seems to be a riff played during Whole Lotta Love. The Garden Tapes describes it as
" the riffy section between the funk and the theremin".
It's a good riff that not surprisingly, I've never knowingly heard before. I must check out a video of their get together for the Atlantic celebrations in the late 80s and also the O2 DVD. It doesn't appear on the 2003 DVD.
I wonder if they played it at Live Aid in '85. I don't have a video of this sadly. All I can remember is they open with Rock 'n' Roll. I thought their set was exiting and full of energy but they were none too pleased with Phil Collins' drumming apparently. I believe they took out an injunction or something similar to prevent it ever being broadcast again.

It must have been nice to see that lovely house. I wonder if the current owner is a Zep fan. The scenes from the film have a charm that only films of a certain age seem to have. Very enjoyable.
I think your friend's band Led Into Zeppelin are very talented. I'm sure you know that already. Loads of people can learn to play the guitar - even I did to a fashion but not many singers actually sound like Robert Plant. I suppose it's something you either have or don't. Do they ever trek down to South Wales for gigs?
