Pretty good day today. Been writing some material with the Funkatronic Love Commandos' bass player, Nige Stayte.
It was submitted to BBC Radio's "Introducing" and was played today on Tammy Gooding's afternoon show - it's got the illustrious title of "Track of the week"!
As such, it will be played everyday this week Somebody must like it!!
The track is called "Hold Me", featuring Emily Beament and is unashamedly 80's pop/disco.
If you'd like to hear it, it's available on the link below. Tammy's great show is about about 4 hours, but the song plays from 2hrs 39mins (40 secs). http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00mbncy

Are you registered with PRS?

Not sure if they still need 3 published compositions to join (they did when I joined), but it's free, and if you can, you'll get cash for the playing of... BBC is pretty good rate. But you'll get no royalties if you are not in PRS or PPL.

Yeh, looked into this, but there's a steep admin fee (in comparison to the amount I may make) - it's not free any more.

Will dig deeper though just in case smile

Congrats thumbup

I remember the first time I heard one of ours on the radio. Radio 1, Simon Mayo IIRC.
I was actually just about to leave for the studio one morning and it came on. I was a bit stumped for a second thinking it sounded familiar but I couldn't think why then I realised it was one of ours hehe

Thanks for the comments - getting a bit of momentum now. Just had word that there's been 8000 hits so far on Soundcloud.

Which is nice! biggrin

Now, where's that record deal? biggrin

I was working on pop dance stuff with a guy in 1995 and we had a track played by Dave Pearce on R1. We eventually amassed over £11K in PRS but I never saw a penny of it as my supposed 'mate' had squandered the lot before I got a sniff of my share.

Nice work anyway OP - feels great when you hear one of your own tracks played in an environment beyond that where you'd have been responsible for putting it on... radio, club, etc.

Cheers Mitch smile

Yeh - kinda makes all the long hours worth while (until you remember that it's been optimodded within an inch of its life!! Dynamic range? nah, don't need that!! biggrin)

Momentum does seem to be gaining slightly though - which is nice smile
Need to take advantage of it whilst its got airplay.

And fit it in around my day job :-/
