The Who call it a day

The greatest Rock'n'Roll band in the world have decided to call time.
Pete and Rog are doing one more huge tour and then that's the end. They intend playing countries they've never played before and marking 50 years of the Who ( or what's left of them) and the retiring.

As a fellow Acton (NOT Shepherd's Bush) boy I find this really sad but inevitable. They gave the world some tremendous rock anthems and changed the face of rock. I'm sure someone on here will put into words better than I can but suffice to say it's the end of an era.

I've been to "final" tour gigs too but I think in those days Pete was just fed up with it all. Now they appear to be loving it and ach other again but I guess they feel at 70 it's time to go. I'd pay just to see they do Bwhind Blue Eyes.

The Who really ended when John Entwhistle died though , it just became Townsend and Daltrey touring The Who catalogue IMO.

Don't get me wrong I love The Who, and Townsend and Daltreys performance at the Olympics was a refreshing suprise, but it is time for them to call it a day. Not just them either, a LOT of old rockers who don't need the cash should have a long hard look at themselves and their ability to perform.

I have nothing to say except "you're wrong". Correct about Queen though, (unless you include Genesis who are the most over-rated band ever).

Will keep an eye out for tour details, The Who have been on my bucket list (or perhaps theirs!) for a while now.

Having seen both the Who and the Stones play live on TV, seems to me that the Who are immensely better in their live delivery - the Stones look like a sad old caricature of a has-been band these days and they really SHOULD turn it in!
