My missus saw them supporting Lady GaGa in the summer. They were pretty good apparently.

I think they had their time though and will never be as big as they could have been. Their mantle has been well and truly stolen by Steel Panther who do it bigger, better & funnier.

Saw Justin and brother (I think) playing rawk geetars on on kids music prog Zingzillas the other day. I wondered if they felt this was their lowest point. Glad to hear they are touring again.

I saw them myself at Ally Pally touring the One Way Ticket album. Show itself was awesome but the sound quality was terrible. Real bad case of whack everything up to max and see what happens.

Justin definately knows how to entertain though. We some him in Hot Leg in The Fleece at Bristol and he got two headbangers up on stage as they're were obviously putting a lot of effort in and they spent the whole gig sat on the stacks either side of the stage moshing away! No this is not me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IwgcKtrUwE

I love the Darkness. Behind the falsetto and PVC there was some serious musicianship and top notch song-craft. Got tickets to see them in Cardiff a week tomorrow and cant wait.

Seen them at just about every size venue, from medium clubs to arenas. Also saw Hot Leg in Barfly, a really intimate venue, who were also great fun.

Always made me laugh how some people would get snooty about them while championing bands like Snow Patrol and Keane at the time they first came out, when the Darkness were technically and musically a far superior band and put on a much better stage show. Just because it was all a bit tongue in cheek people missed that. Though I do remember Kerrang absolutely loved them.

They were fantastic lyrically as well. The dual meaning of songs like "Growing On Me" and "Holding My Own" may have been crude but they were undoubtedly very clever. But people like Fearne Cotton go all gaga over a Keane song about getting stared at by a tree (ok that was unfair, but I'm going off on one now and can't help myself).

Anyway, I like the Darkness.

Something some of you may be interested in - Justin was heavily involved with Meatloaf's last album a couple of years back. You can hear his backing vocals all over the place and he wrote this track and played a brilliant solo on it too:

How in gods name did that pass any kind of quality control to make it onto an album? Mercury records and Meatloaf must have st in their ears. Mr Hawkins should hang his head in shame. (although im sure hes laughing all the way to the bank)

Bat out of Hell is a classic, due in no small part to Todd Rundgrens production and what was effectively Utopia playing on the record. But every record Meat has released since has been poorer than the last and Hawkins seeems to have been keen on making sure that trend continues.

seen them 5 times and with the exception of Leeds fest (where I think they were knackered) they have been excellent every time.

just good old fashioned balls out heavy rock.

Saw them last night at Cardiff - great gig! Really good fun. At one point, Justin said he'd give anyone in the audience £100 if they could sing along to the next song (an obscure early b-side called Curse Of The Tollund Man), and then had to borrow the money of his guitar teach when a girl actually did sing along! Cool moment.

I also caught one of his guitar picks which he threw into the audience which was cool.
