My grandad has just told me he has had an oboe in storage for many years, and he is wanting to get it sold, and he's asking me to get it sold for him. All I know is what he's wrote on a little piece of paper for me 'Baroque Oboe, Brevetè by Triebert A Paris'

Does anybody know anything about these? [url]

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Howarths of London are one of the most respected dealers of Oboes, so worth & call, they do commission sales I believe. Also woods of Bradford (ask for Linda or Stuart) I don't know of any specialist woodwind dealers in the NE, (which doesn't mean there isn't one) but I would avoid a general music shop. The downside is that unused it would be ready for an extensive service/overhaul which will have some effect on value.

This; I would speak to Howarths. It will need a good service though.

As it happens, this looks to be similar from the website recommended on here, probably same condition .... so £600 at a dealer, probably equates to £400 trade ?

Still worth a sec on opinion though.
