After a second successful jam, my proto rock band may be heading somewhere, to the extent that the question of a band name has been raised. How on earth do you come up with one? My last band (20 years ago) was named on the basis that we had 5 mins before we needed to print the posters so named it after the track I was listening to at that moment...

My friends at school named theirs as something only with a childish demeanor would understand...could say it in front of people without them knowing the true meaning....

Just have a look at the other thread titles in What's New and take your inspiration from there smile

How about Polar Vortex, or Bean to Machine (Cup would be better though), or Flooded Fools.

There was a facebook thing a while ago that did just this for you.

It even gave the title of your album.

It used famous quotes and stuff like that. Mine came out as :

Dayton Electric : If you can't be funny, be interesting.

Quite liked it.

In fact....

1. Go to wikipedia, click "random". The first wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

Good for album titles too. My difficult second album is going to be named "What would you do if a stranger kissed your 3yo? "

The best I ever came up with was when I had an infected testicle...not sure it would fit with your music though?!

My old band was called Ring Sting after a decidedly horrific night out in Ibiza. Not my ring or my sting i would like to point out.

Ours was named via the menu of the pub we went for lunch at on our first day of practice.

Hence “Fish Finger Sandwich”.

A lot of it depends on the genre and type of image you want to portray - if you want to get like-minded listeners interested.

Best not to put too much thought into it, you'll look like a right prat if you ever do any press and have to explain it. biggrin

Don't use swear words either, as that's a bit career limiting.

From memory, I think my ex band's name came from a couple of accidentally overlaid newspaper pages that put two words next to each other that didn't often go next to each other.

Something like "The Earwax Crenellation" Or similar.
