Can anyone identify this for me?

I've just bought this incredibly cheap guitar on eBay but have no idea what it is!
Obviously it's some sort of Gibson SG clone; the seller said he thought it was a Vintage, but I had one of those a few years back and it was nowhere as near as good as this! Only weighed half as much for a start!
I bought it because my fiancé said 'you never leave anything of yours round my flat - it's like you're not really here. why don't you leave a guitar here, then you won't need to go home to practice.' Well I wasn't going to leave one of the good ones was I? Hence the search for a cheapo; I've also bought a Honeytone amp to go with it.
Yes I'm aware the pickups don't match the rest, in that they have gold covers. Seller told me the original ones were awful so he replaced them with these from a Westfield L*s P**l copy. I don't like them, the neck pup overpowers the bridge something awful despite being lowered right down and the bridge adjusted right up. I don't mind, I've probably got some spares somewhere I could put in. Also someone botched up the job of installing them; the bottom set of tone and volume knobs controls the neck pup and the top ones the bridge pup - d'oh!
Don't let the Gibson logo fool you, it's a crude sticker.
Well I've trawled the net and I can't find anything that looks like it. That head shape is a puzzle, particularly.
Any ideas, anyone? I'd really like to find out what it is, because it will probably play quite well after a bit of a set up (I've just ordered some nut files and fret dressing and profiling files and can't wait to get started!).

Well if it is a Chibson as you call it, it would have to be an early one, as the ones they're making now are so good you'd have to be an expert not to be fooled by one! This one's not in that class. It's a 3-piece body and the joins aren't even straight along the grain. There's a scarf joint at the end of the neck and another join in the heel. Take the back off and there's the smallest mini-pots you've ever seen in your life, with those 'orrrible little green Chiclet caps, and an enclosed selector switch a la Epiphone.
Actually the hardware does look a little Epiphone-like, bridge for example has those slotted screws rather than the correct thumbwheels.

Someone has just painted over the original then put what looks like a vinyl sticker on it. I've put decals on guitars and managed to make them look like they were part of the original finish, but you can actually feel this one.
Perhaps I'll just remove it, then I might see the original makers name underneath!
