anyone bought a les paul recently?

I have an itch for a real one (I have a burny supergrade at the mo which is great but I've convinced myself it is not the right thing).
Much as though I would love a 59' reissue I don't really think I'd spend that much cash, but I have read some reasonable reviews of the 2014 model range.. Just wondered if anyone had any recent experience of their quality etc.

I picked up a LP Trad Pro ii a few months ago, it is an awesome piece of kit.
The new super 57 bridge pickup is seriously good, and I believe they have introduced it to one of the new models (classic I think).
Go onto Rob Chappers YouTube channel and there is a full review of each model in the standard lineup.
If you are looking at spending a bit more, what about a Collectors Choice?

Thanks I've just looked at the youtube stuff. I think I want to try a standard 2014. There are differences.. For me it is more about how it plays though. But as for how it plays, if you are referring to the set up etc, all that can be changed and made into whatever you want it to be, assuming the basics are there, and in any Gibson I would expect them to be.

Yes all the hardware can be changed, not really that worried about that. Interested to try different neck profiles and see what the quality is like on a new one. The old burny is a decent guitar, I like the sound and I'm not unhappy with it, I just think it could be better. I don't expect a new lp to be £2k better than my guitar, and I know mine can be worked on. I just want to see how different they are. If it is miles then I know to get saving, if not then I'll get mine over to a Luthier. There is also that thing where I have always wanted a real LP, I know that is a little nonsensical, you can blame Jimmy Page

Yes, but the OP already has a good LP-alike, and wants a genuine Gibson.And my advice on that would be, do not spend any money on a modern production-line Gibson. Unless your Burny was a very low-grade model, it will be a more accurate example of the proper LP recipe. If you simply MUST have a Gibson, spend some time playing some older ones.
For example, if you like the '60s neck profile, try to find a pre-93 Classic. More here: http://www.lespaulforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p...
There are other oldies worth looking at: Heritage series from the early '80s, etc. Like this one: http://www.guitars4you.co.uk/gibson-les-paul-herit... (bought new from MusicGround, but long before those chaps got done for dodginess)

Tested.. I tried a few from the 2013 range (deals to be had and the differences between 2013/14 are slight). Very impressed with the range of tones I could get from the standard. They all played very well, there was a traditional that had been very well set up, head and shoulders above the rest playability wise but it just did not have the sonic range..I've told them to set the standard up properly and then we'll see.
The deal is £1500..
