Strummin' and Singin'

Anyone else here like to strum chords and sing songs? It's my favourite musical activity, sometimes I have to almost tear myself away from it. But perhaps I'm the only one here that's into it because it's an activity I don't see discussed (unless I missed it).

Since I got my music room I've got worse because I now have a selection of suitable guitars, a Shure SM58 and a TC Helicon VoiceWorks processor (and a decent set of earphones) so I'm actually starting to sound to my ears (which are the only ones that receive the noise I produce) quite good. Sometimes.

It's good that I've got something I can enjoy doing on my guitars because my soloing is st.

Sadly I can't sing for st, but quite often I find myself strumming along to whatever I feel like listening to for hours on end.

Sometimes I just relax and play the easy chords mindlessly, and others I try to add a few bits in here and there and improvise for the solos.

Since getting my Martin almost a year ago I have played acoustic a LOT more than electric which is a big change for me but I am really enjoying it

Generally practice 'bassing' and singing rather than strumming - trying to get used to it as I'm doing some backing vox in the covers band. Even sounds good to me sometimes but I think I need to practice in front of a mirror because I have a 'bassist caught in the headlights' singing expression on my stupid face when I'm doing it at gigs.
