UK Band Touring the USA

Hi All,
I've been searching google high and low but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of information that covers this area.
I've a band, and we're in the process of planning a USA tour next year. We've thought about the venues, the cities, visas, vehicles and the routes etc. but I feel there's an awful lot more that we should consider. I imagine it isn't a case of "book it and they will come"
Does anyone know of any decent people to speak to, or websites to look at that might offer an "overview" of what we're likely to encounter, or perhaps some general advice for touring bands?
Alternatively, if anyone on here has experience of this, please do share

It's all independent and small scale. So it's just the band. We're looking at 100-300 capacity (Similar to what we do in the UK.) Although I can't imagine we'll be selling out each show. How many of you going, band and crew?
We'll firstly, good luck as everybody has to start out somewhere.
I've worked on a few tours but mostly bigger stuff and the planning on these sort of things is pretty immense. It always seemed to me that on the tours I've done whether that be a 1 truck tour, or a 42 truck tour a good tour, production, and stage manager are key. Good promoters too.
Then there's the road crew, local crew, security, catering etc, etc. but what you need and how much you need all depends on the gigs you're playing and the potential numbers coming to watch.

Thanks man. We're a little way off all that yet. It's very much a "hire a van" and get to the gigs.
