How to put a value on a rare guitar?

I'm off to look at a guitar tomorrow, advertised on one of the facebook gear trading groups. Thing is, it's pretty rare, so how on earth do you agree a price on it?

It's a limited edition superstrat, made in 1991, only 350 worldwide and about 50 originally imported to the UK. I tried searching ebay completed listings, the only one on there is a standard colour that sold in September in the USA for $479 plus shipping and duty.

Thanks David. I'll avoid emailing you about that one as I bought it on Saturday, and wouldn't want to be upset if I overpaid... Will stick a photo on the main thread though as it is rather pretty...

If you are happy with it then I don't think you overpaid... I'd be happy with that
