best light show / rig at a concert ?

Over all my years from Monsters of rock down to the pub, I think this is the best light rig I ever saw

Great song and then the light rig, which we could not see what it was before it descended, appeared to utter amazement. And then did some wing waggles !

I've seen that one as well but things have moved on a long way since then.
We've seen Take That and Katy Perry in the last year and both had far better lights etc.
The Australian Pink Floyd had a better light show when I saw them a couple of years ago than the real Pink Floyd did at Earls Court when I saw them perform The Wall over 35 years ago

Did you see the U2 show from Paris on BBC 2 the other night? They were using a similar thing but on a massive scale - looked fabulous.

I must admit to not really noticing lights usually, but I do recall that the lights/backdrop for the Human League on the Steel City tour a few years ago really was impressive and enhanced the whole experience.

If pyro counts, then Rammstein put on one of the best shows anywhere. God knows what it must cost to do it all (and somehow do it safely).

For cleverness, the last couple of Nine Inch Nails tours were amazing. Huge moveable transparent grids of LEDs that could be placed anywhere including in front of the band. Video and lighting tend to be completely separate things in many shows but they were very deftly mixed together for those.

We saw it live in the O2 Arena and it was fantastic. Best rock performance/stage show I've seen in my 60+ years here.

Genesis from back in the '80s, particularly Home by the Sea and In The Cage - they more or less started lighting rigs by inventing the Vari-lite in 1981 in conjunction with Showco.

The Bomber rig tho - first used in '79ish - came back after the guys behind Wacken asked them if they still had it. they fixed it up for Motorhead. Same with Saxon's Eagle lighting rig

I'll go for the "bomber" rig too as my all time favourite. When I saw them on the bomber tour all those years ago, Lemmy actually climbed onto the thing and was hoisted up whilst still playing! Epic stuff and not something health and safety would approve of. Saw them on Sunday and couldn't hear properly till Wednesday! R.I.P. big man.

The firm I worked for when I was driving trucks on the tours did Motorhead. It was a 2, sometimes 3 truck tour. U2 on the 360 tour had 55 trucks :0

I saw Katy Perry had 70 trucks for her Prism tour.
Admittedly several were for her costumes and wigs but it's still quite impressively OTT

I'm going on hazy memories but Rammstien peaked around 01/02 and toned it down since, I heard people got "a bit singed" at brixton when we saw them. Still epic shows though. and NIN too, I'd assumed that was a gauze or something being projected onto.

Last Faithless gig a couple of weeks ago had some pretty epic lasers going on, they really put on a show.
