Radiohead - Spectre theme song

I thought this might have been posted somewhere, but search says no. Radiohead have posted their Bond theme for Spectre, which they were asked to do by the Bond people. Things happened, and the Sam Smith song was used instead. I like Radiohead (the guitar band and what they became from OK Computer onwards), this has got shades of Pyramid Song or Videotape in the piano, and their later stuff with he odd rhythm.

And they used Sam Smith instead

I like a lot of Radiohead stuff, but that was dire.

However, Thom's vocal is a lot better than Tham Thmith's weak tinny effort turning to foghorn mix on the actual theme song. There are parts of that song where he sounds like the voice some people use when taking the piss out of a mentally disabled person. No offence meant to the mentally disabled of course, just those taking the piss.

When was the last decent Bond theme anyway? It must be a directive form the film makers to produce a specific type of dirge, or perhaps it is just a trap that the artists fall into - "let's do another Bond theme our way"...
