This was one off diamond dogs that totally hooked me when young.. Very different sound, very different mood and pre Berlin trilogy 76 on - st man, was that song really out in 1974, hearing it again after a lot of years and it still feels fresh! But in those days is was almost retro but dark Procul Harum...

He didn't write that though, but very much made it his own version, nothing like the original. That said, there are SO many others, so so many. Someone said on another thread that their head was playing a constant loop of Bowie tracks, and I've been much the same since yesterday.

Like everyone is saying, far too many to choose from, but I'd go with 'Somebody Up There Likes Me' from Young Americans.

The 'plastic soul' sound he found for that album coming off the back of Ziggy/Sane/Dogs is amazing. His voice works really well with the backing vocals and the musicianship (on the guitar, bass, drums and sax especially) and production are incredible. I'll even forgive the slightly over egged rendition of Across the Universe as he really throws everything at the vocal. John Lennon was involved with that album so I guess if it was ok with him...

The reissue cd has some fantastic extra tracks as well that James Brown would be proud of.
