Couldn't see a thread on this and was thinking about this topic the other night, so....what songs might you want played at your funeral? I have quite a few that I've thought of over the years...

On entering the church/crematorium I'd want "An Ending (Ascent)" by Brian Eno - a wonderfully emotional piece: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKw5mbcE7VY

During the service, the one hymn I'd want is Abide With Me - every time I hear it, be it at the FA Cup final, in A Bridge Too Far or anywhere else, it always makes me well up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmjuqZSH_aY

Others I'd consider...The Eagles - Hotel California, simply because it is my favourite song ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NTqZ347TKY

Rod Stewart - Young Turks, because it is another favourite and the chorus is a bit of a message for those listening ("Young hearts be free tonight, time is on your side"): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgczlrYM4eI

But at the end of the service I would definitely want Mark Knopfler - Going Home. A beautiful instrumental piece, and it just signifies "ending" to me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ow5IdjNItc0

Never really thought about it, but one of my relatives had "My Boomerang Won't Come Back" by Charlie Drake!

It was very him and everyone had a good old chuckle

it will ruin whatever songs you play for the rest of everyone elses lives.

We played stairwell to heaven Led Zeppelin and brothers in arms - dire straits at my dads funeral, that was 15 years ago, still struggle if i'm in the wrong frame of mind if either of those songs come on..

I want the theme from Minder

Comes from a TV comedy where the wife asks for the theme from the bodyguard and the dopey vicar gets it wrong, followed by him dancing about in trainers with flashing lights in etc. Had me in tears of laughter hehe

On a slightly more sombre note - Disturbed's cover of The Sound of Silence https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9Dg-g7t2l4

Or "Save our last goodbye" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcS6Dm8zXNw

Don't care - I won't be around to hear them and at the moment it's unlikely there will be anyone else either.

Consideration by Reef. Right to the end. I want "it's gonna be alright" to be my last message to my friends and family.
