3/4 Guitar Opinions

My 6 year old son has told us he wants an electric guitar for Christmas. He likes rock and in particular metal hence the requirement for an electric. I've been looking at 3/4 sized guitars and am so confused about what to get as all seem to have different compromises etc.
I've found this and the Mikro is meant to be one of the better ones around. I'm not sure on the amp that comes with the pack though.

I also like the Les Paul express and I'd have enough change to but a decent amp new or second hand. There's a few clips out there that make it sound like a nice metal instrument.
There's also a used Stagg 3/4 s300 on eBay with a Vox pathfinder 10. I'm considering this as it is only £60 and the amp is decent but not sure about the guitar.
Then there's the mini strat but some reviewers don't like it. I'm also unsure about how it would play the music he enjoys.

I bought my nephew a Squier Mini Strat for his birthday. It played really nicely out of the box and sounded OK through my amps too. No trem on it which will help tuning stability on a cheaper guitar. Only slight issue I found was that the strings are very slack, which is unsurprising given the short scale and my preference for guitars set up with 11s.
It was good enough that I considered getting one for me as a travel option, then remembered that a) I rarely travel anywhere and b) SWMBO has said one in one out on guitars...

One of ours wanted to play electric guitar so we spoke to his music teacher, who recommended that he learn to play acoustic and read music first, then take up the electric.
We followed this advice and he can now play the acoustic to level one. Somehow I have been persuaded that if he passes the exam I am going to buy him a Strat.

No he doesn't. The music shop that only had 3/4 acoustics in stock said to start on those first. The other music shops had mini strats and suggested we start him on electric due to his taste in music as it would keep him interested. I would look at a nylon strung acoustic - either a Valencia or Stagg (about £50 new - plenty available used) both decent student models
Out of electrics I would go for a Squire mini they're by far the most robust... I actually have one I take the neck off and stick it in the hold when I go on holiday then bolt it back together when I arrive - pretty good little axe!

I think the days of everyone having to start on a nylon string acoustic playing kumbaya (sp?) are long gone. Certainly my nephew's teacher is more than happy with him starting on the Squier. It's also quieter for the rest of the house if you keep control over when they can have the amp.
At the end of the day a 3/4 Strat is easier for a kid to reach over than even a 1/2 size classical.

A squire is certainly a good bet but to suggest that a nylon strung = kumbaya is slightly disingenuous! The reality is the softer strings and slightly wider spacing on the neck make it easier on their fretting hand and acoustics are great for getting used to controlling dynamics.It's also quieter for the rest of the house if you keep control over when they can have the amp.

Even if following a contemporary syllabus a nylon strung guitar is generally ample for the first year /18 months and they're a fraction of the price.
I've never taught a kid who struggled to reach over a 3/4 or 1/2 student acoustic - maybe a full size jumbo steely but it shouldn't be an issue
A squire is a great call if def going down the electric route though

Other colours are available, think they do green & blue. You mentioned Metal, it's a lot more Metal than a squier. There's a rob chapman review on YouTube,
he seemed quite impressed with it.
If I was a young metal head I'd be begging my parents for the pink one!
