[Chicken Chaser]

Looking for some suggestions.

Stuff i'm listening to includes Ryan Adams & Cardinals, and Bros Landreth (who are Canadian and excellent). Its blues at its roots with a rock/pop/indie overlay. It could probably could be encompassed into the country bracket but its not country. I dont want to listen to some southern american or midwestern talking about his love for horses or his sister. I'd probably class this as grown up American guitar music with an emphasis on the instruments.

Any recommendations? Spotify doesnt throw many up.

I have Americana down as a fairly broad niche sub genre, built out of musicians that did the grunge/posthardcore/rock/metal thing and that have lived through that to pick up a guitar for their 30's 40's + :P

would groups like the Eagles fit the bill, more folksy than country I guess though. What about Tom Petty?

Thanks guys, some of these very familiar, all of the common stuff - Eagles, Petty, Cash etc i've heard lots of and they are standards, but what i'm looking for is relatively contemporary stuff like the Black Crowes, which probably edges into Rock/blues/country. Some of John Mayers material is definitely in that bracket. If its guitar heavy (not too much of the pedal steel!) then i'm interested. Thanks for the suggestions so far

Drive By Truckers may work in that case.....latest album is really good.

In that case, I will also echo drive by truckers, but try Whiskey Myers, Cadillac Three, and Jason Isbell. Brilliant artists, and a huge audience in the UK!

Enjoyed Spotifying some of these (continuing to get through them), like the sound of Tired Pony, probably because of Snow Patrol influence, and the Tedeschi Trucks Band (I quite like the Slide stuff of Derek Trucks). Jason Isbell sounds great, Drive By Truckers have some good musicianship but not so keen on their vocalist!
