Cars and Guitars
Discussion
Was just sitting going through some magazines to read i was bored , and had a thought that a Cars And Guitars magazine might actually be a good idea . A sort of combination of what floats my boat I don't know if this has been done before and
Maybe its too much of a spread of interests . What do you reckon good idea
?

? Not a magazine but I do a yearly European Road trip in a Supercar and take a guitar with me. I always write up a blog of it on PistonHeads, seems to go down well. There's something very appealing about blasting across different countries in a fast car and playing a guitar at each different location I stay at.
Start the mag up, I'd buy it!

Personally I'd extend the title to 'Nice Things' - things that you can purchase that have aesthetic pleasure, as well as functional uses.
For me it would be cars, guitars, bikes, zippos, limited amount of art, books....
There was a magazine sort-of-like-that, called "Stuff". For me it would be cars, guitars, bikes, zippos, limited amount of art, books....

I like cars and wildlife so i think I'll start a a mag called "Motors and Conservation issues", i think it'll take off as I know Chris Packham likes classic lamborghinis and the like.
So do i there you go first few articles sorted Jaguar cars and the big cats . Lamborghinis and the bulls most are named after.Seriously though there must be plenty of crossover for the subject matter .Plenty of guitar heroes love their cars
Eric Clapton / ferraris. Zz top and the hot rods Eliminator comes to mind .Im sure jeff becks a car guy .
Danny Gatton was a hot rod guy . Plenty of songs have cars in them Rory Gallaghers souped up ford i believe was about an old Ford Zephyr . Tvrs have a gary newman connection via a fan at the factory . Must be loads of car guitar stuff out there .

You're right that there's a lot of overlap. Gibson hired a car designer for the original Firebird. Fender used lots of GM car paint colours for its '50s and '60s custom colour lineup. You can buy guitar amplifiers named after iconic cars, too. And every now and then, someone does a car-guitar homage, like the Gibson Les Paul Corvette.
But, while I've got a few 'flashy' guitars and some 'go-faster' cars, and even though I've launched several magazines as editor, and ... lovely as the idea is ... as gorgeous as you could make the photography and typography ... there just isn't enough money in it to make it viable.
Would make a fantastic short-lived vanity project if you want to fund it, though.
