Bose L1 PA

I used to gig in pubs and clubs a fair bit in my 20s, but gave it up 5 years ago when I started working offshore. It's looking like a career change is on the cards which will give me my weekends back and I'm getting the itch to start performing again. I still have my old PA system but it is monumentally heavy, over 15 years old and showing it's age. It didn't help that it had a pint tipped in the amplified mixer last time it was used in anger too. As such I'm considering a Bose L1 Model 2.

Are there any PH members with experience of these? I'm thinking I'll need a B2 bass bin and the tonematch. It'll be for solo stuff so four channels is plenty. It's not cheap at £2800 for this set up. Will it be enough to comfortably fill a busy pub or small village hall? There are very few objective reviews online so any wise words from people who've used this kit are more than welcome.

I have no experience of this sort of pa unfortunately, but if I was looking for the same sort of thing I would be looking at HK Audio as well. Some of their Nano range look like it might suit you very well.

I had a look at the HK stuff, but it didn't seem as meaty as the Bose unless you went big and that defeated the point. I've ordered an L1 Model 2 with B2 and Tonematch. My first gig is a good friend's surprise 40th birthday party in October. Best get practicing.

Hi there. You could always just " dip your toe in the water" and get some used Panaray 802s. Or go really "retro" and get some 801s.
I've not used BOSE in a live situation but we had some 801s in our rehearsal room for a while. Vocal reproduction was uncanny.
Have you had a demo of the L1 system?
