Walter Becker, Steely Dan Co-Founder, Dead at 67

Bloody hell. I guess you reach an age where the loss of so many fundamental parts of your youth and your life becomes the norm.
If anyone out there remember it, this takes me straight back to working for Howard & Christine Smith at the Ship in Southfleet, round about 1981. One of Howard's favourite bands as I recall, often had Steely Dan on in the pub.

I was introduced to Fagen and Beckers work via Rosie Velas album Zazu .... which was a little like Becker and Fagen as session musicians.
Hadn't actually listended to Gaucho, brought it out for a listen. Damn, were they good. Although I still prefer Zazu, like an evolution of their sound in ways.

One band I'd have loved to have seen live. The upside is there's hours of doing live TV on Youtube.
I had no idea Walter had been involved with China Crisis. They did some good songs.
Went to see Nearly Dan at the Sage, Gateshead, on Saturday - I go every year and they never fail to impress.
Needless to say Walter was mentioned by Steve Hayes of the band, very poignant ("without him none of us would be here")
Played most of the AJA album, tracks from the rest of the back catalogue and New Frontier off the Nightfly (thanks to Donald).
