Anyone interested in studio consoles?

OK, so I though the scariest set of spaghetti-laced innards I'd ever seen was a Yamaha CS synth, but I sit corrected. :-o
Times change. My needs are well, more modest (!) but I just picked up a complete Roland 48-input 24-track system. Bit more compact, fitting in my boot:
But things change again - so it was just £750 (hardly anyone wants them in this DAW-based age, and it had two spare consoles!) I only bought it just to get the meter bridge for another machine and to part the rest out, but I quite like it.

I remember that Focusrite being installed, I'd just started working for SSL, after working on a Cadac that previously lived in Morgan studios. It sure was a monster and it seemed to take forever to get up and running, IIRC.
As for cable looms, I suspect that Focusrite and a 3 mix position SSL SL5000 would vie for copper per sq in records. I also owned a Yamaha CS80 synth around that time, that would be up there for hand wired loom density, probably wins in the wires/sq inch/£ category as best value for money!
Makes me feel old just thinking about it and this thread has a real danger of descending into the Monty Python Four Yorkshiremen sketch.

Another fan of this thread here and would also love to see more pics. Are you still involved in the recording world Raygun and in what capacity (I'm guessing sound engineer?).
Like NDA, I have a home studio/rehearsal space as well but based around 24 channels of control surface which has certain advantages although I love the idea of tracking through a mixer. I do have an A&H WZ4 for the rehearsal space and this has a USB module so we can track the band live to the DAW and will soon add a 24 channel Soundcraft Si Impact (LED scribble strips!) as the 16 inputs on the WZ4 are full.
What I really lust after for the studio part(apart from Neve and SSL obviously) is an Audient 4816 but have difficulty justifying the price tag for the use it would get.

I built a little studio at home around a Mackie 24 track desk - I've always been interested in seeing 'proper' big set ups.

I actually gave all my gear away to my godson who is studying music production at college.... his parents have a very good outbuilding, so he's built his own studio around the gear I gave him. I've retained the keyboards (Motif ES and Korg stage piano) but haven't played in a while. NDA said:
