Traveler Guitar

Afternoon Guys,

Some advice please. A potential new job means a lot more travelling, international and national so I'm keen to here of any experiences with a Traveler Ultra Light Guitar or similar type instruments that are airplane/travel friendly. Putting my guitar in the hold in a hard case is not really an option.

I only started playing a couple of years ago and I'm concerned the the long trips away will slowly impact on my motivation to pick up the guitar on my return.

I only play acoustic if that makes a difference.

I've got one

Very robust little piece of kit

Action is quite low for an acoustic and intonation is OK.

I don't know whether they still come with the weird stethoscope headphones but I use a little Korg Pandora and headphones

Only difficulty is that it doesn't sit right in my lap and is a bit uncomfortable.

It didnt hold its tune, was difficult to play with a high action and sounded too twangy. I don't travel so much now but if I started again I think I'd get a small keyboard and learn something like protools or cubase with my spare time instead.

I faced the same dilemma and in the end compromised a bit. Only difference was I was looking for an acoustic but started with an electric plus headphones.

It's got the same kind of action as a Les Paul meaning it takes some abuse to make it work and that's not normally what you're looking for in a traveller I reckon. So I need up with this:

They do several versions including steel and gut string. And with some nice headphones it really sounds pretty lovely

At first the Yamaha doesn't look like a travelling guitar but the body section on the top side unbolts with a quick twist of couple of retainers and acts into a neat soft bag idea for overhead in a cabin. With popping into a shop and trying one out.

I was in the same position earlier in the year - i bought a headless steinberger

Fits in the overhead locker or under the seat. I just used it unplugged or took my Boss BR-80 multitrack which has loads of built in effects and plugged the earphones into it.
