Ry Cooder and the KLF

I'm mostly into dance music and electronica but there is a smattering of guitar music in my itune library.

Two tracks which I love is Ry Cooder's 'Paris, Texas' theme and the (slide?) guitar parts in 'Build a Fire' by the KLF – have a listen here, it's beautiful

Ah, another fan of the great man!

Ry Cooder was a Magic Band member at the time Beefheart made his first album. The story goes that they got offered a slot at the Monterey Festival, the same one that produced the fantastic sets by Hendrix and Otis Redding, and kick started the 'Summer of Love' and subsequent rock festivals.

They had never played before such a big crowd, and the band was settling into their places when Beefheart looked out, saw all the people, and immediately turned round and walked off the back if the stage, dropping many feet to the ground. That was the end of that, and the incident also marked the moment when Ry Cooder left the band.
