Good afternoon, i am a keen guitarist and keyboard player and would like to learn to play the drums. They will be going into a flat so i will need an electric kit.

I have been looking at the Roland 11kv and 25k but a little concerned that the small cost of the 25k becomes bigger once you add a hi-hat stand.

I have also seen that Yamaha have a 500 series kit 562? Which seems to have ipad connectivity which could be good. And the new Alesis Command mesh at only £699.

As you can probably tell by my rambling im a bit at a loss what to do, should i get the 11kv and likely be very happy or go for a higher cost kit (25k or Yamaha) or save some and go Alesis?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Just to add i have played the 11kv and a 25kv but not the others yet.

Brain for the Alesis won't be as good - neither will the feel of the mesh.

Haven't used a Yamaha electric kit in years - Roland really do have the monopoly on electronic kits.

Personal preference for me is to have a stand - better pedal feel and better cymbal placement. Would be annoyed with it being fixed.

Genuine question about the stand. Seeing as i have never played an acoustic set do you still think i would benefit from having the hi hat on a stand?

Whats your budget? I just sold my Roland TD9 kit for the new Alesis Strike. Full size heads were the selling point for me...
I haven't dialed it in yet, its mis-triggering all over the place. But then my Roland kit took a month of fiddling too, to get right.

Its £2k, similar price to the TD25K.

Ideally less than £1200 and that would be for everything from kit to throne. If there is something which is a huge step up for a few hundred more i could handle that but i have no idea if i will take to drumming.

The other consideration is size, one of the main reasons of me looking at the 11kv and the new Alesis command mesh is the size of the kit vs the bigger kits. The kit will likely go in my flat which whilst not small is still a flat.

I think I got used Roland V drum TD9 for £400
More than ample for my drumming abilities when I decide to put guitar down for an hour or so!

Treated myself today to the Roland 11kv today, all sat in boxes at the moment as figured today is probably not the best day to set it up given Valentines day plus first time I’ve seen the Wife for a week and a half!

Hopefully i will get on woth it and any advice on how to set it up greatly appreciated, im hoping i can put the wiring within the tubing to keep it all neat. Didnt get a Throne as hoping i can build it in a way that i can just use a chair i already have, but if i do need one i can get it later.

Got a Tama speed cobra 310 bass pedal for it hopefully this is okay as forgot i needed one and therefore didnt have time to look at reviews just took the shops advice.
