Drum kit advice please

Hi all. Posting here as I know nothing about drum kits...

I've been invited to the 80th birthday party of a guy who played drums with a band in the 50/60's - one of those who almost made it, but not quite. However, he still plays when he gets the chance. His family have decided to club together and buy him a new drum kit for his birthday and I'd like to chip in. Rather than my contribution being lost in the big picture I thought something specific like drumsticks, or maybe some other accessory, budget c.£30. Can anyone recommend a suitable accessory or gadget? Thanks

Drumsticks can be fairly personal items, what about a drumstick holder...

You could always pull his chain and get him a metranome. About time he played in time and all that. Seriously, a lot of drummers use them. (Most ignore!).
