Massively disappointing news that Scott Walker has moved on.

Some fantastic experimental recordings in his later years.

Just seen this, genuine sadness, some fantastic recordings down the years, bloke was a real one-off.

I saw him with the Walker Brothers in the 60s. A very gifted singer / song writer who never received the recognition he deserved, especially in his later years. RIP Scott.

One of my biggest musical heroes, I'm gutted. Scott 2, 3 and 4 were incredible albums. The later experimental stuff was a little less accessible but there were still diamonds to be found if you had the patience to listen. I'll always remember Scott as having one of the finest voices of all time, best enjoyed (to me) through his 60s output. RIP.

I had a vague awareness of the Walker Brothers, but was awakened to Scott Walker by the Album "Fire Escape in the Sky (The godlike Genius of Scott Walker)" compiled by Julian Cope in the early 1980s

Just read the news, very sad to hear of Scott's passing. For the last few weeks I've had 'Scott' playing in the car endlessly, particularly 'Montague Terrace (In Blue), 'Angelica' and 'My Death' pure genius. That voice, there's nothing else like it...

Only one left now then of the original trio, drummer, Gary (Leeds) - as John (Maus) died at just 67 some years ago.

I cannot remember whether I saw them or not in the 60s, so many back then. I have a feeling they (Walker Brothers, before they split) were on tour with Hendrix of all people and I saw him a few times.

No age again really today.

I've almost finished reading Anthony Reynolds' book 'Impossible Dream' and it covers the Hendrix tour, it was early '67, not long before the Walkers split up. Scott pretty much kept himself to himself on that tour, much more so than before. By then he was also writing for and producing other artists and had quite a head start for his solo career over the other two. (It was on this tour that Jimi first set fire to his guitar on stage, at the Finsbury Park venue).

You're right, Dandarez. I saw a package tour in 1967 headed by the Walker Brothers, supported by Hendrix, Engelbert Humperdinck and Cat Stevens.

Loved his voice, I'm from a time when the Walker Brothers were on the go.
Have a Scott Walker Greatest Hits Cd must dig it Always meant to get the later Scot 2, 3, 4 etc but never did.
Loved his cover of Jaques Brel songs

That was the tour I saw: The Walker Brothers, Jimi Hendrix, Cat Stevens and Englebert Humperdinck; April 11th 1967, Bedford Granada. Memorable for two things, Hendrix's guitar and Scott Walker's voice.
