The Who at Wembley.

The Who played Wembley las night. Did anyone on here go? Was it any good?

Bit of a big show clash as Rammstein were on as well last night. I guess the fanbase is different.
Sound at wembley is horrible but I guess that wouldn't matter to Townsend as he has his ear plugs in anyway and wouldn't be aware.

If I knew now what I did when booking then probably would have given it a miss. Sound mixing was not great. Visuals a bit odd as well.

I wasn't aware they were playing otherwise might have made an effort.

They were awesome in either 95 or 96 at Wembley arena doing the Quadrophenia revival.

I went last night and was thoroughly disappointed.
The quality of the sound was dreadful - couldnt make out the words when they were speaking let alone the song lyrics.
It was hideously expensive - £106 a ticket for upper tier tickets!
It was a present for my parents 70th so got 4 (me, sis & parents)!
We left before the end. So did an awful lot of people. Streaming out.
Further annoyance by the tickets being printed at costing £80 + £10 booking fee even though i paid more.
Kaiser chiefs were good in support.
I've complained to ticketmaster about the sound and cost on the ticket but not expecting anything.
Huge waste of money, would be far far better off seeing a decent tribute band who would also play the big hits!

Pity they are not touring the UK doing indoor venues, massive outdoor events are usually plagued with awful sound.

I saw them a couple of years back on the Greatest Hits tour, and they were pretty good, but maybe the time has come for Pete and Rog to
retire.

Yeah - lesson for me is; loud, anthem-y bands work well at a stadium (Foos last year, Kaisers as support yesterday) . Anything more subtle doesn't seem to work so well.
Or maybe its bands you really know the songs? Either way will approach stadium gigs with caution.

I don’t expect studio quality at stadiums but a decent set up will work. Recents for me, ELO and the Stones managed it. This seemed more like poor mixing to me. Previous acts were ok.

Thinking about it, I have the Hyde park vinyl, pretty good for an out door do. But then that would have been recorded off the desk.

Why don't they throw the towel in?
The Rolling Stones are the same, better tribute acts than the real thing, see them twenty years ago with Sheryl Crow supporting who was far better. In a lot of cases the British singers lose their great voice when they get to their 30s, Elton John, Robert Plant, Jagger all sound terrible now.

Jagger and his chums sounded OK last year. Wish I knew I could be as active as him when I get that old. There were glimpses with The Who on Saturday that came through but I fear the orchestra they used was poorly mixed in, not an age thing. Heck they were both active as hell and looking fitter than me and have 20 years on me I am ashamed to say.

I would be interested to hear any correctly mixed recording coming out of this for a comparison, I bet it would be what we should have heard.
