I’ve been talking about buying an explorer type guitar for a while, ideally an Ibanez Destroyer. My son would also really like one, although he’d really like one with some sort of Floyd Rose trem.

Apart from early Destroyers ( which seem to be rising in price ) does anyone know of an explorer type that comes with a FR type trem. Failing that has anyone got any idea of the cost of retro fitting one, properly routing the body etc?

Thanks

D

I've got a dim recollection of quite a few companies making Explorer-esque guitars with FR during those 'hair metal' days. Pretty sure even Gibson did, too.

Peavey Raptors for not a great deal of money if you want to try it.

ESP LTD did a lot of their EX range with Floyds.

Bigger money... Gibson did a run a few years ago with FRs as did Epiphone.

A Jackson Kelly is kind of explorer shaped and often came with a Floyd Rose.
