Dec 4th. No sign on local Radio, traffic radio of Virgin w Chris Evans or daytime Radio 2. Have I just been lucky / unlucky.

The day it is first heard by two in our household is the day the tree goes up!

Several times already.

<<Puts on flame suit>> For my taste it is without a doubt the worst dirge of a Christmas song ever made. Hateful.

The worst xmas record ever. What was the late, great Kirsty MacColl thinking of when she got involved in this dirge.

Snowflake contraindicated (because of the word they rhyme with maggot) so likely to have been removed from the playlists of many/most radio stations.

That and "ahole" were silenced out on MTV last night too. It's a pity they just didn't play it at all.

This Christmas tuneless is a case of the Emperor’s new clothes , say you don’t like it and you are considered not sophisticated enough to understand the deeper meaning . bit like David Hockney and his “wonderful” art , when to a 3 year old can do better .
Magic radio is playing Christmas tunes not stop , ok in the background , but when FToNY comes on, Smooth radio is instantly selected .

It was on BBC 6Music this morning. No lyrics were bleeped.

As for those claiming that it the worst Christmas song ever? Have none of you heard "Mistletoe and Wine"?

I genuinely think many people claim to love it because it's fashionable to do so, because it's "edgy" and not the usual Xmas drivel. Whilst deep down, they really know it's even worse drivel.

Not saying that's you, I'm sure many people actually do like it.

Loads of better Xmas songs. Wonder if it ever gets played in New York? Doubt it. Naff song, just imo.

Most of the good Xmas songs are old.
That's why they keep on being played year after year. Keeps a few groups in clover (if they're still alive).

Personally, Greg Lake's has to be up there as one of the best.
To think that was released in the 70s. As of course were Wizzard and Slade's.
Lennon & Ono Happy Xmas (War is Over) has also done the test of time (70s again) I still like it , as I do Chris Rea's Driving Home for Xmas, 80s this time.

The real cheesy stuff like Mariah Carey I can do without. And Bing and Bowie, Wham, etc.

One you don't hear in the UK, but will in New York (and the rest of the US) is the Xmas song featured in the film Home Alone 2.
If you didn't realise it's Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers (who most on here will know I am a big fan!).
Used to love Howie Epstein's bass playing, good singer too.
Here they are singing said song live in 2000 - Petty looking like he had a bad haircut day, and bearded Howie looking sauve!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaPj1GoDpQw

Yet Howie was dead within a couple years of this, just 47. fking drugs/heroin!
Irony is Shane is still here despite that drug but mainly booze abuse.
