Music played in your classic car

Most of the preset DAB channels on my 80's Mercedes radio are 80's music.
I know I'll probably get a slagging off for not having a period radio but anyhow.
Do you play period correct music whilst driving?

I've complained elsewhere that I don't like it that we who have "Jazz-age" motorcars are expected to like Jazz music. Happily there were few wireless sets in 1930s cars so I can motor in mine in silence
I can also report that when I had Daimler SP250s (in the 1960s/70s) I could play real classical music courtesy of the Third Programme/Radio 3.

My Jag definitely isn't a classic - it isn't even a year old yet, but most of the music played in it is over 30, and some of it is over 90

There will be some new stuff later in the year when the new Alestorm album is released, but the oldest regularly played stuff is Bix Biederbecke

Bought a Blaupunkt Toronto SQR 46 for £40 to strip and fit a DAB radio inside to put in the 89 carrera, but the price on them shot up so high, I couldnt bring myself to do it !

Anyone want an SQR 46 ?

Well timed thread - I finished only yesterday compiling an early 70s playlist for the Alfa - Deep Purple (Highway Star, what else!), Steppenwolf, Bowie, ZZ Top, Sabbath and so on, oh and the Godfather theme - apt I think for a car popular with mafia foot soldiers back in the day!

Its twin carbs, gas flowed head, tubular manifold and exhaust makes a sound that is never tiring. It may ps off bystanders from time to time but from where I sit, with my foot on the loud pedal, it's music that cannot be beaten.

Don't think I've ever had music/radio on in any of the TVRs.

For the obvious reason and to hear any new/unusal noises.

Usually have a lot of soundtrack stuff to drive along to when in the right mood, The Sweeney, Long Good Friday, Get Carter, the Italian Job, plenty of John Barry and the ITC series like Randall & Hopkirk, The Persuaders, Department S etc and some of the less cheesey 'library' stuff from the EMI / KPM stable of the late '60s and early '70s. Also Brian Jones era Stones, Scott Walker, Miles Davis and a really good Pete & Dud sketch compilation.

No point in trying really. Cruising at 80 on the motorway top down in the E-type you'd hear not a lot, and in the XKSS I have a bass section of my own next to the passenger.
