android guitar fx set up
Discussion
I used to play the guitar when I was in my teens, and I'm thinking about getting another one, at the ripe old age of 43, after a 25 year hiatus
I probably won't have the time to play all that much, and don't have the room for a big rig. I also make the assumption that things have moved on and that android/tablet based fx units must be pretty good by now.
Does anyone have any experience of these, I'm not so fussed about sound quality, but I think what might be super annoying is latency and I don't know whether app based solutions (vs proper phtysical fx pedals and amps) are any good here.
My kids have ipads, which I'm sure I could borrow if the iOS solution is better than the android one. Additionally, I have a mac air too if the iOS solution is better that the tablet/phone ones.
Interested to hear people's thoughts.

I haven't used anything on Android but I do use an Irig interface with my Ipad & the amplitube app. It works fine for mucking about in the house. Not had any problems with latency etc.
Beware of one thing, you can get sucked in to buying some of the add on packages for the app & before you know it you've spent more than a nice little practise amp would cost!
