Genesis - back on the road as the coffers are getting low.

Got home late this evening and saw the tour announcement on the interweb.
I see the 4th drummer has returned to the fold. Who let him back in ffs?
His son, who is very handy on the skins is also playing. I have no idea what Chester T, Nir Z or Bill B are up to these days. Nick D’V will be busy with Big Big Train, but nothing like a bit of nepotism eh?
Without Hackett they are just a pop group and no doubt will be avoiding the epic prog stuff. If you want to see Genesis then go and see Hackett in concert.
Or, in February 2021 The Musical Box are touring TLLDOB and having seen the show before I can highly recommend it. They even use the original slides from the ‘75 tour.
My idea of a reunion would be Gabriel and Hackett rejoining what was left of the group, Rutherford and Banks (wish be would gig his own solo music) with one of the above drummers (excluding the 4th drummer as he is unable to play anymore).
I would attend every concert if the dream team were playing. Alas I really don’t think I could pay good money to listen to some pop group belting out the s
te that they ended up making.

I am pleased for them and hope it’s a big success. Seen them 3 times, 75, 77 and 2007, each time they were utterly brilliant, way better live than there records.
Sadly I think Phil’s voice is just a bit too weak now, no offence meant as to me he is a musical genius and in his day an incredible Drummer, but I think I will keep the memories of them in their heyday, I reckon musically they will be spot on though.

Alright maybe aTotT.
Got our tickets for the O2 sorted. It's an event, we're fans, why wouldnt we? Saw Musical Box last month on their tour at Cambridge. TotT just about note perfect with Suppers Ready as an encore.
Next year they are touring aLldoB. Worth looking our for if you are a fan.
£130 gets you right up in the gods in a land far far away.
I've paid significantly more than that and have tickets to the rear of the floor. It's great to see them again but because it's a combination of 60th and wedding anniversary almost any price would turn out cheap!
As a bonus I appear to have earned an untold treasure trove of brownie points. I shall spend them wisely!

I've seen them over 30 times from 1974 onwards, but two reasons for not seeing them this time, 1: I will be in the USA and 2: have you seen the fookin price, o2 pre-sale has them starting from just over £130!
the sad thing is that £130 for a gig isn't really that expensive these days!I'm not a diehard fan so more accepting of the later stuff but I wouldn't be shelling out that kind of money to see them with Collins in a diminished state. I did get to see them at Wembley 86 and Earls Court in 92. The latter was a brilliant show being centre stage and about 10 rows back so I'd rather remember them like that.

Think the most I ever paid was £60 to see Guns n Roses play a small warm up gig in Hammersmith Apollo in 2006.
