As an individual Genesis - aka Neil - always struck me as humourless, sinister and of limited real talent - but s/he took many of the ideas of Warhol and the Viennese Actionists (and others) and moved them towards the mainstream. From reading her autobiography, his treatment of Cosey was appalling and should probably have resulted in prosecution. But I can't help but admire / respect / acknowledge his / her dedication to pursuing his art, in all of its forms. Although most of what he did was deliberately ugly, deliberately transgressive and confrontational, he stuck with it and his / her influence is widespread and undeniable.
