Bad news on the band front, we have lost a member due to viral shenannigans, the singer can play but can't sing at the same time, the rhythm guitarist is useless, but can do a bit of lead, the drummer is the drummer, all of which adds up to I am now the new bass player...

Already been on eBay and bought a 2x15 cab, and looking at a 400w head, to go with my ancient Matsumoku made Aria Pro II bass.

You need to tell us what you were doing before, then we can decide whether you've been demoted or not.

Lead guitar, with a massive stack, and ego to match.

On the plus side, the price of second hand gear collapsed somewhat, and I now have a quality 300w head and 2x15 cab for less that a ton all in. Looking to get another bass to complement my ‘82 Aria Pro II, just in case...

So is the new singer the old bass player?

The bass player has buggered off to look after his father, the singer can play a bit, but cannot sing at the same time, and the rhythm guitarist has little sausage fingers and cannot cope with bass strings...

On the plus side, now you get to gig without actually doing any work hehe

In all seriousness, at least you're able to cover and a good excuse for adding more gear to the collection.

Your adaptability means that you can keep playing in difficult circumstances. It's also something that you can use in live shows.

I went to see the Foo Fighters live last year and midway through the show the lead and the drummer swapped places and played a Queen song.

It was one of my musical highlights and it made me wonder how many bands could do that.

In this cases of despair it is convention to smash the guitar on the speaker cab. To be fair normally on a 4x10...
On the other hand you can edit the youtube video before posting so you can do both roles? Food for thought...

This calls for a double necked beast, part bass, part six string. Play the bass and take the lead breaks

Bass players are obviously in demand, I have had an offer to join one of the more busy local bands. Not sure I am ready for regular gigging after a twenty five year break. My hair isn’t long enough for a start...

Why does it matter? You shouldn't be meeting up to practice in any case.
