What's the best Bond theme
Discussion
Personally?
Goldfinger edges into first place, followed by (and in order):-
You Only Live Twice John Barry pre-dating his theme to Midnight Cowboy
Live and Let Die Clever, clever chords and songwriting
I'll have The Spy Who Loved Me on the subs bench

Goldfinger.
Silver awards to:
Thunderball
Live and Let Die
Diamonds are Forever
The Spy who Loved Me
Being a Soundgarden fan, the Chris Cornell one is the only one worth listening to after about 1983.
Not sure about best, but favourite for me is the Chris Cornell one. Massive fan.Silver awards to:

i know it's many people's favourite, but my I can't stand Live and Let Die. The only one worse was the recent piss poor effort by Sam Smith.
but there's been some great ones over the years - Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever, We Have all the time in the World, View to a Kill...
I also like the Jack White / Alicia Keys track for Quantum of Solace (although I was disappointed they didn't somehow manage to get the film title in the song lyrics!)

I remember one of my often-borrowed records from the library was the Bond themes compilation LP, until we acquired the technology to tape it. And I still have "Thunderball" on the player in the car, having removed most of the rest that I put on.
I quite like the Sam Smith tune. There, I've said it. I didn't like the way he told us all so smugly about how he'd written it in five minutes, and I think I've read that the latest one (which I don't really like, I don't think it's a patch on the SS one, or the Adele one for that matter) was also rattled off in a similar time. When I hear the new one on the radio, I can hear bits of the Sam Smith tune in there, but that might just be that these last few have got a lot of classic Bond theme components in them.
