Bands who've not lost anything with new members...

Bit of a convoluted title but which bands have not 'lost' anything by losing/replacing members?

3 (maybe controversial) who spring to mind are:

AC/DC Bon Scott/Brian Johnson
Sabbath - Ozzy/Dio
Maiden- Di'Anno/Dickinson

Oasis were an obvious example. The band was Noel & Liam plus interchangeable drummers, bass players & rhythm guitarists.

I'd say Metallica after Mustaine/Burton but they have gone downhill after Robert Trujillo joined.

Megadeth have a revolving door of lead guitar/drummer. I'd say the current line up is as strong as the classic.

I prefered Scott, Ozzy, and Di'Anno though...

I liked Anthrax much more with John Bush, rather than Turbin or Belladonna.

I really liked the Motely Crue album with John Corobi. It was more heavy compared to the Vince Neil albums.

I'd add Burr/McBrain & Stratton/Smith to the last one as well.

Changed members (except two) for years, watched them at the start, still watching them today and hope it continues!

Much as I adored Green and Kirwan, and when I first saw Buckingham, always been huge fan of Mike Campbell and I was gutted when Tom Petty died, but elated when Campbell joined the Mac.

Different but both very good.

Lots of bands had early line-ups where members moved on before the classic line ups were established.

Trujillo is just there at the wrong time, the others are too old now and haven’t written a really good song in decades, I think Trujillo is very similar to a Burton and has a brilliant technique, he plays the old stuff much better than Newsted did. Mustaine wrote half of Kill em all but the creative stuff on Lightning and Puppets wasn’t his. Other than that I agree with everything you said

Mike + The Mechanics in their current form are fantastic.

It pains me to write it but Static-X.

Edsel Dope as "Xer0" plays the Wayne Static role in a way that leaves you torn between it being a fantastic tribute and a ghoulish attempt to replace him with a clone. It felt much more like a tribute live but he's pretty much a facsimile.

OK they haven't grown thanks to him but despite losing the founding frontman who wrote most of the content and defined the band's image they sound "as was" before Static's suicide.

As a fan it's great to have them back but hard to overlook how stty things were between Static and Campos prior to his death.
