During Grand Designs last night on C4, the ads were all book-ended by a Hillary's Blinds slot, where the music was a young-sounding female singing "la la-la la la-la la la-la la la la" for which the tune was G, G-E, G, G-E, G, G-E, G, A, C and the timing for the G, G-E was dotted minim, minim, crotchet.

I'm sure she's singing the tune to a well-known song but I just cannot place it! And the web isn't helping.

Anyone know it?

It's a jazz version of the Cardigans Love Fool, by Scott Bradley, I think.

Ignore the above, please.

Try searching for the ad on YouTube and then posting a link to it here.

I saw that but that's a previous ad, I thin this one is quite new.

If I remember, I’ll play it on the piano tomorrow and get Shazam to have a go.

You could of course hum it and try that smile

Is Shazam capable of picking up something from someone playing the tune on a piano or humming it? If I release a track I have to make sure my distributor submits it to Shazam as, to my knowledge, it recognises the precise waveform of the original recording. The same tune recited in a different form isn't enough as far as I know.

I tried Shazam but it's very short and there's someone speaking over it - plus I doubt it's the original anyway.

Per the suggestion above, I couldn't find it on YT so, it's bugging me enough/ I'm locked down enough that I recorded it off the TV and uploaded it myself biggrin

I don't think the sound is great, but you can hear the tune.

I suspect that's a piece of stock music, but you might want to enable YouTube comments to maximise your chances of getting an answer.

Could well be altho Hillarys used the Cardigans and also Diana Ross "It's my house" before which made me think it might be a known track. I'll enable comments, good point.

I think those are ads though. This is more of a "jingle" for a programme trailer. These things are sometimes referred to as audio mnemoncs or sound signatures.

Heard it on this evening's Grand Designs - it’s longer at the beginning of the show - so I got it up on catch-up and played the trailer at the beginning of the programme good and loud. Shazam picked up nothing.

The words being sung are "la, la la la, la la la, la la love is love”, so I tried Googling these, and…

BINGO!!!

PH rarely fails! Well done that man. I just heard lots of “las”, I didn’t pick out the words at the end.

Solved, so it wasn’t a take on something better-known that I’d heard before after all.

Thanks v much! beer
