So guys,

Like many of us I have way too many guitars, and I'm far from good at playing them - but I still have a hankering to build one for myself. Most og my guitars are acoustics but I do have a Mexican Strat and a Squire 52 reissue Tele.

The idea of putting together an electric kit is very appealing but there are two issues.

First I'm a leftie, so that rules out 95% of the kits out there, and second whilst I definitely do not want to spend lots of money, I also don't want to build something that is total junk and is unplayable.

Anyone here got any experience of DIY kits and can they recommend a decent supplier?

What I really want is to build a Les Paul with a flamed maple top that I can stain and make my own so to speak.

So, what's the verdict. Pics of your self builds would be great. Extra points for any left handed examples!

Thanks, yes I have seen these guys. Are they any good? I worry the neck will be pretty grim at this price. More than happy to be wrong on this of course.

Also, I don't think they sell any LH flamed maple veneered bodies apart from the semi hollow one, which I'm not 100% sure I'd go for if I had other choices. Could be persuaded though if the basic guitar was decent and would be playable.

I really fancy staining the veneer to make a visually interesting guitar. Something tasteful (!!! scratchchin) like this for example - but left handed obviously!

I've just finished a Pitbull bass guitar (pics on lets look at our guitar thread) I was very impressed with the fit and quality especially at this price point, though I'm no expert.

Another vote for Pitbull - I've recently finished a Thinline Strat build; quality is excellent.
