I started piano lessons at the age of ~6 and reached a standard (Grade 5?) where I was performing at the local music festival at the age of 9. I migrated to violin in the school orchestra, and then at 12, on to guitar. Piano lessons were the only tuition I had, all violin & guitar were self-taught.
Roll forward 40 years and I was suddenly head-hunted by a band - my first band experience. Fame!
During the 10 or so years I played with the band, it became apparent that sometimes a keyboard player would be useful; I bought one and tried to play some simple stuff and was devastated to realise that I'd forgotten the art completely and my hands no longer worked like that.

It's better to have played and lost than never to have played at all.
Or something like that, I would think with a bit of practice and tuition you be back up and running. You obviously have the musical ability within.
Sadly I think whatever instrument I attempt to maul I'll never be more than a "tried and failed to get past a certain level"

I played a dual keyboard organ when I was 10-14. Got quite good but the music was not very exciting. Don’t forget that was right hand, left hand but also some dexterous footwork. I perfected something called ‘Perfidia’.
My nearly deaf 90yo nan was sitting on the sofa and started singing along to it.

Been playing since 2006. From a rank beginner who didn’t even know where middle c is I can now play Chopin. Took all grades 1 to 8.
it takes me a long time to learn a piece to a good standard, 6 months to a year for something like a Beethoven sonata. Wish I had the natural ability, I have to make it up with determination and hard work.

Having played guitar for 30-odd years, I like to think I know where to place my fingers on a fretboard and why. But I love listening to classical solo piano work, and seems like witchcraft to me.
How someone can play a Beethoven piano sonata from memory is something I find mind boggling.
