Sad to see this; always an interesting band with their own distinctive sound, in no small part due to Bones.
Never caught them in real life but always wanted to.

cracking bass player...
i loved the quirkiness of what peter gifford did on those first few albums but bones fitted the more commercial sound the had from blue sky mining onwards...
my old fella heard power and the passion by some unheard of australian band on the radio and was hooked...and so it was from the age of 8 i was exposed to them from 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 through red sails in the sunset to diesel and dust...
i remember missing blue sky mining but buying earth and sun and moon for myself when i was in 6th form and playing it every day before going to school....i
by the time they recorded breathe i had drifted away completely ... a few years later i went back and bought everything... albums like head injuries and place without a postcard which preceded 1982 were a revelation to me and a new discovery...
those first 8 albums i still go back to to this day...

I love the Oils - a top and underated band. Got to like their stuff when I was based in Australia for a couple of years in the 80s and saw them at the Hammersmith Odean a couple of years ago.

jim moginie in particular was a big influence on my guitar playing... particularly his acoustic work.... never got to see them live unfortunately but this live show would have been incredible to be at....
