David Byrnes American Utopia film

Spike Lee’s film of David Byrnes American utopia performed on Broadway is available on iTunes from today.
Easily one of the best gigs I’d ever been to in my 50+ years.
What made the Broadway performance even better for me was the storytelling between the songs and I’m very pleased that this has been kept in the film.

I will probably get a copy of this when it's available on DVD - I really enjoyed the tour's stop at Shepherd's Bush.

I watched this over the weekend and it is very good: it does the live Broadway event justice.
When travel and everything else is allowed, I cannot recommend highly enough making the trip over there to see it.
It isn't the same as the concert but it is utterly fantastic.

No, they are broadly the same. The only major difference is (and I’ve seen both live(get me!)) the talking between the songs which he didn’t do on the tour

I'd add that the concert seemed a bit more energised but that may have been down to the lack of talking segments and possibly that it was earlier in the run.
