Only just saw this, a sad loss and a man of his time. Digital has probably overtaken his greatest work.

TBH, I'm more impressed that P'Her has heard of Rupert Neve.

Yes, a sad passing of a genius. I've had the pleasure of using his kit, both old and new and the sonic qualities are nothing short of spectacular.

And thankfully, digital doesn't come close - not to the good stuff anyway smile

BUT tbf, if I reach his age and have accomplished a fraction of what he did, and make anywhere near a similar impact on music, I would die a very honoured human.

RIP Rupert.

Neve the company were at the forefront of digital mixing desks.

I have never used a Neve console though, I spent my sound engineering days in venues good and bad throughout Europe, where Midas was king.

I've never used one either but a friend has a pair of Neve mic preamps. There's various stuff on youtube about the legendary Neve desk now owned by Dave Grohl...
